A new, expert-led dedicated Oral and Maxillofacial centre of excellence will open in the heart of London’s Harley Street Medical Area. The Centre for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a first-ever and exceptional department in UK private practice, with eight leading Consultant Maxillofacial surgeons working together in a custom-made unit.
The department is unique with interconnected specialist facilities from consulting rooms, diagnostic tools, CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) and even operating theatre. The centre will become London’s leading clinic for conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, face, and teeth. The team also have access to on-site 3D printing which is used for planning complex facial reconstruction and correcting facial deformity.
Headed by Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Mr Luke Cascarini, the new centre occupies the entire first floor of the newly relaunched Harley Street Specialist Hospital (HSSH). Mr Cascarini brings together a group of leading oral and maxillofacial specialists. He says: “We have brought together some of the leading global experts in maxillofacial and oral surgery who are dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care and access to the latest treatments. We aim to provide world-class professional care, combined with the most advanced technology in the calming surroundings of Harley Street Specialist Hospital.
Mr Cascarini continues:
“With our focus on the patient experience, one of the main benefits is that a person’s entire treatment journey can take place in one location; from the initial consultation through to diagnostics and treatment. We have a dedicated clinic room, CBCT and operating theatre all on the same floor. Our team includes an oral medicine consultant and reconstructive dentist so we can treat the whole spectrum of conditions.”
The Centre will treat an extensive range of conditions of the jaw, mouth, face and teeth including TMJ conditions, the surgical removal of wisdom teeth, jaw cyst or tumour removal, mouth cancer screening, orthognathic surgery (jaw reconstruction) and dental implants.
For referring dentists and GPs, they have the peace of mind of knowing that their patient will have access to a team of specialists who work together on complex cases.
The Centre has the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic technology including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and offers the latest surgical techniques such as Piezoelectric bone surgery which is technology based on the high frequency vibration of a metallic tip used to selectively cut bone while sparing surrounding soft tissues. The ultrasound technology enables the consultants to be even more precise when cutting bone and there is extraordinarily little blood meaning less pain and a quicker recovery.
The Centre for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has chosen HSSH because it is a small boutique style hospital that offers a much more personal and comforting style for patients. It allows the team to offer a seamless patient journey with new state-of-the-art equipment and an entire floor devoted to oral and maxillofacial patient requirements.
